Data Governance
When nobody is responsible for data, every department has its own numbers and every error turns into an argument. We set up data governance without bureaucracy: start with the area that hurts most, assign real people and show a result, then extend it.
What is included
- Assessment of the current state and the first priority area
- Roles: data owners, data stewards and a data management office
- Policies and standards for data handling
- Data catalog, business glossary and data lineage
- Preparation of the data side for regulatory requirements and industry standards
What you get
- Clear ownership of every important dataset
- One definition for each metric across departments
- A catalog that shows what data exists and where it lives
- A working process you can extend to other areas
Who it is for
Companies where departments argue about whose numbers are right, and organizations that need to align data management with regulations or industry standards.
We work with companies worldwide.
Frequently asked questions
Where does the work start?
With a short assessment. We choose one data area where problems cost the most, assign the roles there and agree on definitions and rules. Then we repeat the approach in the next area.
Do we need a data management office from day one?
Usually not. In a private company, a few owners and stewards are enough to start. Large or regulated organizations may need a data management office, and we help plan it.
Will this make us compliant with data regulations?
We prepare the data side: roles, inventory, policies and evidence of the work. The legal assessment remains with your lawyers, and formal assessment remains with the regulator.
Do we need to hire new people?
Rarely. The roles usually go to people who already work with this data, with the responsibility made explicit and time set aside for it.
Do we need to buy a data catalog platform?
Not at the start. Definitions, roles and rules matter more than the tool. Dedicated platforms pay off when there are many areas and teams.
